Mos Def's Watermelon Syndicate
o2 was asked to develop a logo and series of media pieces for Mos Defs big band shows at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. o2 customized LAVA (Live Ambient Visualization Application) for the tour by designing video components for each of Mos Defs songs. The system was programmed so that as the artist sang and as the music and the beats played, the media responded accordingly. All video was additionally manipulated by physically onstage by interacting with LAVAs on-board interface. The media-scape filled the back of the stage, creating an immersive experience that was truly responsive to the music.
